There are two stories here:
The first story, “Living With The Guilt”, revolves around James Carpenter who farms at Athgoe in West County Dublin. On the night of Monday the 30th of January 2006, he shoots and kills an intruder on his farm. James rings his brother, Kevin, who lives in Rathmines, and asks him to come out to Athgoe and help as there has been an incident. Kevin, who is a Garda Superintendent, drives out to Athgoe and he is horrified to find a young man, dead with a blanket over him. The two brothers argue and things spiral out of control.
The second story, “Leaving Alabama”, is set in Alabama in 1642 and although
it contains cruelty and brutality, it merely reflects the cruelty of that
period in history. A young woman named Ruth has compassion for the Negro
slaves.
